Terms of service
Last updated: 13 May 2026
These terms (“Terms”) govern your use of the GridAtlas website and services (the “Service”) provided by GridAtlas Ltd (“GridAtlas”, “we”, “us”). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. Eligibility and account
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for any activity that takes place under your account. Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.
2. Plans, billing and trials
- The free tier provides limited access to public data. Paid plans unlock additional features as described on the pricing page.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
- You can cancel at any time from the customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not provide partial refunds for unused time except where required by law.
- We may change prices on at least 30 days' notice. New prices apply from the start of your next billing period.
- Payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe's own terms.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape or bulk-download the Service except through approved API channels;
- resell, sublicense or redistribute Service content without a written agreement;
- circumvent any access control, paywall, or rate limit;
- upload anything unlawful, infringing, malicious, or that violates a third party's rights;
- use the Service to harass, defame, or harm any person or organisation;
- interfere with the Service's normal operation or security.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
4. Data accuracy
GridAtlas aggregates publicly available information about UK renewable infrastructure. We make reasonable efforts to keep records accurate and to flag confidence levels, but the Service is provided “as is” for informational purposes only. Always verify against primary sources before relying on a record for investment, planning, or legal decisions.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of any data you upload (e.g. saved searches, notes, uploaded documents). You grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, process and display that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you.
6. Intellectual property
The Service's software, design, branding and curated database structure are owned by GridAtlas or its licensors. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the Service according to these Terms.
7. Service changes and availability
We may modify, suspend or discontinue features at any time. We target high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Where reasonably practicable we will give advance notice of material changes that materially reduce paid-tier functionality.
8. Termination
You may close your account at any time from the dashboard. We may terminate or suspend your account if you breach these Terms, fail to pay, or use the Service in a way that creates risk for us or other users.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- we exclude all implied warranties (including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose);
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data;
- our total liability arising from or in connection with the Service in any 12-month period is capped at the fees you paid us in that period (or £100, whichever is greater).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify GridAtlas against losses arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app and by email where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after the “Last updated” date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence where required by law.
